Professor Janice Kay
Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor
University of Exeter
Chair
1994 Group Student Experience Policy Group
I became Deputy Vice Chancellor in August 2004. I am a Professor of Cognitive Neuropsychology. I was supported for the first years of my career by the Medical Research Council, from studentship to author of three project grants at Newcastle, Lancaster and York.
I was appointed to a Wellcome Trust University Lectureship at Exeter in
1990. My research, funded most recently by ESRC as well as Wellcome, is
concerned with theoretical modelling, assessment, diagnosis and
rehabilitation of disorders of perception, speech, language and memory.
I oversaw the development of the University’s £80 million investment in science, engineering and medicine. I also have overall responsibility for the University's taught undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and its Education Strategy.
I am Chair of the 1994 Group Student Experience Policy Group that is currently working to help shape the national agenda on the student experience. Our group also works with the DCSF and DIUS on 14-19 Curriculum Reforms (I am a member of these departments' HE Engagement Project Board, for example), and student admissions.
I am a Board member of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the TQI/NSS Steering Group.
